Robert L. “Bob” Colborn, 86, of LaHarpe died Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita.
Bob was born July 26, 1925, on a farm north of Kiowa, to Frank and Grace (VanHuss) Colborn. He graduated from Medicine Lodge High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He married Norma Duncan, and they lived in the Thayer area before divorcing. He and Mary Eckert were married and made their home in Erie until retiring and moving to Wellington. She preceded him in death in 1999. Bob has made his home in LaHarpe for the past 10 years.
Bob worked as a farm hand for several farmers over the years and then worked 17 years for Blair Trailer Company before retiring.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Iola.
He is survived by two sons, Robert “Bob,” LaHarpe, and Roger, Weir; a daughter, Annette “Toni” Stagg, Gardner; three brothers, Jack, Chanute, and Kenneth and Donald, both of Salina; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister and four brothers, Harold, Jerry, Lester and Russell.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church in Iola.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sumner Memorial Gardens at Wellington.
