RICHMOND — Iola Middle School’s track teams competed in Tuesday’s Central Heights Middle School Invitational.
The Ponies took second place in three of the four divisions. Wellsville won the two seventh-grade divisions with Iola teams in second place and the same was true for the eighth-grade boys’ division.
Jayhawk-Linn claimed the eighth-grade girls’ division. Iola was fifth.
Ashley Campbell set a new IMS seventh-grade high jump record. Campbell won the event Tuesday by clearing the bar at 4 feet, 10 inches. Emily Middleton had the IMS seventh-grade record at 4’8”set in 2001.
Iola hosts a five-team track meet today at Riverside Park. Field events start at 3 p.m.
Next Tuesday in the annual IMS Invitational with at least 15 schools competing. Field events begin at 1 p.m. at Riverside Park.
