HUMBOLDT — Rain did not keep the racers or fans away from Humboldt Speedway’s go-kart races Sunday afternoon. There were 26 competitors on the track.
Jaymond Rice captured first in the 5-8-year-old class with Easton Reynolds in second and Dylan Schild in third place.
Matthew Kay put up another feature win in the 9-12-year-old class. Luke Phillips ran second followed by Quinton Sams, Braden Bowman and Devin Phillips.
In the 300-pound car division, Mike Kay did not let the tight racing action phase him as he took the win. Josh Pitts came from the back to finish second. Jay Ports ran third with Jon Odell in fourth and Daniel Harper in fifth place.
With heavier rain moving in the 350-pound car division and the 13-15-year-old class were combined in a five-lap race. Tyler Kidwell appeared to have the victory in hand in the 350-pound car division but coming off turn four, Kidwell’s car broke.
Mark Schild drove past Kidwell, who was able to get to the finish line for second place, to win the race. Kyle Knoblich finished third. For the 13-15-year olds, Levi Phillips claimed the victory and Christian Millard was second.
There will be no go-kart races at Humboldt this Saturday. Next up will be Oct. 24 as gates open at noon and racing begins at 1:30 p.m.
