The Humboldt Cubs hope to snap a seven-game losing streak this week in Iola as part of the War on 54 Basketball Tournament.
The Cubs will get a much-needed break from the Tri-Valley League with their latest contest resulting in a 59-48 loss to the Cherryvale Chargers, which dropped their record to 1-9 overall. They remain winless in the TVL at 0-3.
They open this week’s tournament Monday against Crest, then face Iola Thursday. Both contests will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Iola High School, The results from Monday’s contest were not available at press time.

The Humboldt girls basketball team looks to reestablish a bit of momentum this week after Friday’s 43-34 loss to Cherryvale.
Humboldt opens the War on 54 Basketball Tournament Tuesday against the Anderson County Bulldogs at Iola Elementary School.
