The Iola Ponies boys’ basketball teams met up with an old nemesis on Tuesday night in Iola when they did battle with Wellsville.
The Eagles were able to continue their strong play against the Ponies this season by winning three of the four games contested.
Iola’s only victory came in the seventh-grade junior varsity game when the Ponies notched an 18-5 victory.
Iola forward Gage Turner led the Ponies with six points and five rebounds. Grant Luedke also added five points and five steals.
In the eighth-grade varsity game, Wellsville won 35-22.
Nathan Louk was the star of the game for the Ponies with eight points, three rebounds and three assists. Jack Adams added four points.
The Eagles were able to pick up a sweep in the seventh-grade games.
Tyler Boeken scored seven points, grabbed five rebounds and forced two steals for Iola in varsity game, but the Ponies fell 27-17.
Ryker Curry and Karson Sigg each added four points.
In the seventh-grade junior varsity game, Iola lost a 13-9 heartbreaker to Wellsville.
Kobe Lord was the leading scorer for Iola with four points while fellow-forward Trenton Varney added three.
