MOUND CITY — Marmaton Valley High’s Mitch Covey recorded the Wildcats’ lowest score of the day Monday, taking home ninth place in the process at the Jayhawk-Linn Invitational.
Covey shot a 92 at Mound City’s Sugar Valley Golf Course, 18 strokes behind individual champion, Southern Lyons’ Chase Coble at 74.
Others for Marmaton Valley were Lane Hamm and Mike Swift, who both shot 97s. Hamm took 15th and Swift 16th via scorecard tiebreaker. Joe Jefferis finished 25th at 112.
Marmaton Valley’s team score of 398 was good for fourth among seven teams. Team champion Southern Lyon’s team score of 344 was 22 strokes better than Oswego’s.
