MORAN — The Marmaton Valley Wildcats received a stiff challenge from returning Three Rivers League champion Central Heights, who took both games Monday night, 16-0 and 17-1.
With only one hit in the opener, and one in the finale, the Wildcats struggled to establish themselves.
Senior starter Todd Stevenson took the loss after allowing six earned runs but picked up a pair of strikeouts in the losing effort. Sophomore reliever Kaden McVey came in as relief.
McVey allowed six earned runs.
Junior pitcher Andie Carr made her 2026 debut by forcing a pop-out to end the opener. McVey also registered MVHS’ only hit in the opener.
Senior catcher Garrett Morrison scored on an errant pitch to break the day-long goose-egg in the second inning of Monday’s finale.
He also registered the Wildcats’ only hit in the losing effort.
Starting senior pitcher Tyler Lord took the loss, allowing 10 runs over 1 1/3 innings while walking two and tallying two strikeouts.
Sophomore reliever Thomas Allee did not fare much better after allowing seven runs, two walks, but posting a team-leading four strikeouts.
The Wildcats hope to get back into the win column Thursday while hosting Jayhawk-Linn. First pitch for the opener is at 4:30 p.m.
