PLEASANTON — Crest High’s Lady Lancers went toe-to-toe with host Pleasanton High’s Blu-Jays Thursday night — at least for the first half of their Three Rivers League game and second road game this week, when they held an 18-17 halftime lead.
“We played a solid first half. We were patient and did a good job against their press,” said Terry Messenger, Crest head coach.
“But the second half we lost our poise and hurried things.”
Crest scored only four points in the second half, losing 41-22. The Lady Lancers slipped to 0-6 in TRL play and 1-15 overall.
The Lady Lancers host Hartford tonight in a non-league game.
After falling behind 14-10 in the first quarter, the Lady Lancers turned the tables on the Jays. They outscored their hosts 8-3 to take the one-point lead.
Despite scoring just two points in the third quarter, Crest was still in the game. The Lady Lancers were down 24-20.
Pleasanton rolled up 17 points in the fourth period to Crest’s two.
Erica Holman scored eight points for Crest. The Lady Lancers were 4 of 11 from the free-throw line.
Pleasanton cashed in on 15 of 24 free throw attempts. Karesa Lewis tossed in 13 points and Autumn Secrest added 10.
